Having finished with the 4th of July festivities, with the rodeos, fireworks, and music festivals, I went back to the kiteboarders on Sauvie Island, OR, for an afternoon that included not only good kiteboarding in nice wind conditions, but also a cleanup project organized by the CGKA -- the Columbia River Kiteboarding Association (photos will be in a subgallery of this one).

This is my second time shooting this sport, and because I'm not a sports photographer, it's all practice for me and I consider myself fortunate to be able to get some good shots. Following the action, as a boarder approaches then leaps into the air or swerves to the side is challenging, and I threw about 400 out of a thousand shots away outright because of missed focus or lousy composition. The good news is that I ended up with over 500 shots that weren't lousy, of which I'm posting some fraction here!
