The clouds cleared away nicely tonight, so I grabbed my gear and went out, about 9:00 PM. The moon was high, likely as high as it was going to get.

What that situation, I had challenges: I had to position the heavy camera/lens combo in a way that got the little moon centered in the lens for good focus optimizing. Yes, at 400 mm, especially with a camera with a large sensor/image capture element, the moon is quite small -- in the first image you can see it uncropped.

So, it was a bit of a struggle, moving and adjusting the gear where with just a bit of movement the dang moon would disappear and I'd have to start over again!

Well, the good news is that once I have the moon sighted and centered, "locked and loaded", the rest is a snap, focus and shoot. And, fortunately my camera and lens combo are capable of taking good crisp, sharp images. So, the images I show are cropped very tightly -- I chose five out of 12 images that brought out good detail and those are the rest of the images!
