I've spent a lot if time in the Columbia River Gorge east of Portland/Vancouver. This time I went west, stopping at Vancouver Lake and then farther down the Columbia River as it turns northwest. The high point of my day was spotting an osprey at its nest!

Of note: As the river passes the Portland/Vanocuver area it actually turns northwest, even for a time straight north -- at the end of my road I was actually adjacent to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, which is acessible to the public north of Vancouver off of Intersate 5
