It was a cool, overcast day, but nevertheless I went to a nearby spot on the bank of the Columbia River, here in Vancouver, WA, at the end of the day to try to catch some shots of birds making end-of-day flights over the river.

I only had my Canon 1D Mk III with the Canon 300 f/2.8 IS, no teleconverter, because I'm practicing getting good focus on birds flying in the open sky, and this combo should be great in picking up these critters even at a distance (which they normally are).

I was pretty happy with the handful of opportunities I got before sunset, and I plan on doing this with a 2X Teleconverter soon to give me 600mm, and hopefully later on this year with a new 500mm lens!
