This is the Western Wall or the 'Wailing Wall'. In Hebrew it is called the Kotel. You can see Jewish men praying in the background wearing their tallit (prayer shawls). Women and men pray in separate areas. After the war in 1967, when Israel reclaimed the Old City of Jerusalem, the area behind the wall was made into a large plaza.
