Here are some shots from on board the media boat - HMAS Gascoyne - during the 2006 Australia Day celebrations. The twin sisters who feature in many of these shots are Leanne and Naomi Shedlezki who were filming some of the events on the harbour for Japanese TV and promoting the Australia/Japan year of Exchange. 2006 is the 30th anniversary of the signing of the 1976 Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Australia and Japan also known as the NARA Treaty (Nippon-Australia Relations Agreement). Leanne was displaying an artwork featuring several Australian artists including herself which will tour Japan as part of the 2006 celebrations.
