Patuxent Mental Hospital.

Forgotten in the woods of Maryland lies the remains of what used to be a home for DC's mentally ill. What was once considered to be one of the most advanced facilities of it's kind has been reduced to a series of abandoned buildings left to rot. The hospital is comprised of nearly 20 buildings that collectively formed a nearly self-sufficient town. The main building housed offices, operating and recovery rooms along with storage areas. The surrounding buildings were schoolhouses, more medical offices, dormitories, a cafeteria, an arts center and even a church. Many of the buildings remain in remarkable condition considering they've been abandoned for over 15 years now. Some were ravaged by fire and all that remains is little more than a carcass. Others, however, hold relics that tell the true, eerie stories of what went on within the confines of this community. Empty baby cribs, exam rooms, gurneys, wheel chairs and paperwork strewn about the buildings tell all.
