At first, I was fascinated by its appearance—it looked as if it were wearing eye makeup. Then, as I learned more about the behavior of the Eurasian jay, I was absolutely amazed. The intelligence these birds show in building up food reserves—hiding acorns in the autumn to eat during the winter—is incredible! What’s more, they feed on fresh insects or eggs in the spring and summer. They certainly know how to enjoy life! I love this photo. The bird is watching something intently; it must have spotted a tasty morsel and is getting ready to swoop down and grab it. You were faster than the bird, Rob. A superb shot! ~VVVVV+++~
