A genetic defect in the Bennett's Wallaby has thrown off the balance of melanin in these little marsupials causing them to become albino.

In humans, albinism is accompanied by reduced visual acuity compared to the average, and affected individuals must avoid intense exposure to sunlight. The same applies to albino Bennett's wallabies. This photograph beautifully captures the tame nature of this rare species. However, their coloration makes them easy prey for predators. Bruny Island, located in Tasmania, serves as a safer refuge for them, as it harbors fewer predators. ~VVVVV+~
