Castle Williams 6

While intended to house only cannons; it ended up being a prison. Not a lovely place, but considered one of the better prisons during the Civil War. In fact, it became one of the most desirable prisons in the US Army system. It wasn't unusual for soldiers who'd gone AWOL to show up outside hoping to be imprisoned at Castle "Bill".


It was used as an "US Army Disciplinary Barracks until 1966. By that time there was electricity...
