Bridge Front Side

Erfurt, Germany

Merchants' Bridge
Another Erfurt landmark is the Merchants' Bridge (Kraemerbruecke), the longest series of inhabited buildings on any bridge in Europe.
The Merchants' Bridge is Erfurt's most interesting secular construction, initially in wood but rebuilt in stone in 1325.
There are still 32 buildings on the bridge. Of what was once a pair of bridgehead churches, only the Church of St. Aegidius
remains at the eastern end of the bridge today. The Merchants' Bridge is lined with galleries, cafes, and small stores,
offering traditional crafts and food specialties of the area. (Source Erfurt Tourist Info)

Superb POV. I thought of the bridge in Florence too but this one is even bigger and better! V

A remarkable structure and home to a great many activities in addition to crossing the river. Fine exposure, Tom. V

Like the bridge in Florence only bigger and very different looking. Love the different windows here. V
