St. Mary's Cathedral (on the left) is the oldest church in Erfurt, founded in the 8th century.
In 1507, Martin Luther was ordained here as a priest. The original Romanesque building was redesigned various times during the Gothic era.
St. Severi's Church (on the right) is mentioned first in documentaries in the 10th centuries. During the 13th century,
the five-aisle, early Gothic hall church of St Severi was the abbey church of the Regulated Order of the Augustinian Canons.
As a unique architectural ensemble, both churches together form the city's landmark.
