Highline 179

Reutte, Austria

is located near Reutte on the Bavarian-Austrian Border. It extends at an altitude of 114 meters ((374 ft) above the Ehrenburg castle and connects the Ehrenburg ruins with Fort Claudia.
Up until recently it was the World's longest pedestrian suspension bridge with 403 meters (1,322 ft). Last August, a new bridge was opened with 494 meters in the Swiss Alps.
(BTW I chickened out crossing it and played it safe from below).

Not sure I would be able to brave that bridge either. If it was solid and didn't move maybe I'd try it but I'm thinking if there is a breeze it will be swinging! Yikes. Beautiful photo. V

Nice!...and scary...don't know if I could handle it. BV

Wow ~ what a long bridge! I would also pass on walking across it! V

I would imaging a suspension bridge of that length might sway a bit. I think I'd follow your lead on this one and stay firmly on the ground. A very interesting and fine photo, Tom. Vote.

The scenery and landscape are outstanding, but the suspension bridge for someone who dislikes heights (me!), is not something to be contemplated :-) Love this shot. V
Jeff Real09-Jul-2018 17:05

Great composition, this really shows the proportions of the bridge so well. Nice you got the castle in as well. I'd like to say I would have crossed, but that's my opinion looking at it from here. "V"
Helen Betts09-Jul-2018 16:09
Yikes, I would have chickened out, too, but you got a great capture of it from the more stable ground. V.
globalgadabout09-Jul-2018 15:55
startling, and certainly looks a brave adventure...the thrill must be hard to match though, so well worth the effort next time..

Great light and sky to heighten the drama of thoughts of crossing the bridge!
