the Benedictine abbey of Frauenwörth was founded by the Duke of Bavaria, Tassilo III (746-788), around 772 AD.
In 1803 the abbey was dissolved due to the Secularisation.
King Ludwig I of Bavaria re-opened the abbey in 1838.
As of 2007 the monastery has 30 sisters
