Back on the Church Roof

Mackenbach, Germany

the stork is back from the long journey returning from Africa and is waiting for his mate.
It seems like he is finally accepting the new nest this year.
Last year's story:

.

A stork couple decided to build a nest on the church chimney in our neighborhood village, right before Easter.
It's still cold this Spring, so because of the nest...no heat, the parishoners have to bring blankets till the babies arrive in about 100 days.

Very cool seeing this close up and in the greater context of the whole church view. Both excellent images. It is nice to know that the parishoners were willing to sacrifice their comfort for these birds' children to survive. ~BV~

I think it was very nice of the church to build a scaffold for the storks. I'm sure they will also be rewarded by having a warm Mass this yr. :) V
