1955 300 SL Gullwing

Mercedes Benz Museum, Stuttgart Germany

The Mercedes-Benz 300SL was the first iteration of the SL-Class grand tourer convertibles and fastest production car of its day.
Internally numbered W198, it was introduced in 1954 as a two-seat sports car with distinctive gull-wing doors
and later offered as an open roadster.

Great image of a beautiful car. Clark Gable's 1955 300SL was sold for big bucks at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in January, included a set of matching luggage.

One of my favorite cars of all time. I remember only once seeing one on the road. My father was driving and we waiting at an intersection of country roads and on cam e by - VROOM and it was gone! A very beautiful presentation. V

fabulous, but I was lucky enough to drive a little earlier 300 SL, 12 cylinders bright red, two seater in 1965, at 160mph is was as smooth as silk on the road. oh my dream car!!! V
