I recall only being in the Pershing Field HQ once in the early spring of 1967. I was contacted and told to report to LTC Hill at the HQ Office. I was not told the purpose, but it was presented to me like I was in big trouble, again. I had already made PFC three times in my short military career, but this time I personally knew that I was not in hot water, at least I was pretty confident. I enter the HQ's front door and immediately observed the worried look on the faces of the staff, who were all my friends. I was directed to LTC Hill's Executive Office and I walked toward the his office. As I passed each desk the staff expressed their fears that I was in trouble again and each had a worried look on their face. I approached LTC Hill's office and knocked on the door, he said,"come in". I entered. "PFC Hittson reporting as ordered, Sir" "At ease", he said. "Do you know why you are here?" "Well, Sir, I am hoping that I am getting a promotion", I replied. Right away LTC Hill knew that he wasn't going to be able to scare me , so being the nice guy that he was he informed me of my promotion to Sp/4 and sent me on my way. LTC Hill was a very special commanding officer and he was highly respected by all the staff that worked for him The 2nd in command, Major Briggs, was equally respected. So ended my only time inside the 92nd MP HQ, at Pershing Field.
