1875 Clapp & Jones Steamer

In 1875 there were approximately 1400 steam-powered fire engines in use in the United States. By 1917, Clapp & Jones had manufactured 4600 of these and, today, less than 300 survive. This particular steamer saw service in Port Henry, New York.

"...today, less than 300 survive..." This is a fantastic survival rate for a 130-140 year period.
Thank you, Tom, I can't stop watching this beautiful machine! V.
