The range window of the Canon has really cooled a lot, coming more in line with the rest of the lens although still a hot spot for sure.

The lens cap of the Canon lens has cooled a good bit also, but the aftermarket filter on the front of the lens is still fairly hot.

Even so, the two hot spots on the Canon are cooler than the average temperature of the Vivitar. And the Vivitar average temperature is over 9 degrees warmer than the average for the Canon.
