Stor Korsnęb - han
Loxia pytyopsittacus
Parrot Crossbill - male

They have come back from their Northern habitat again this year. Unfortunately I don't know how long they will stay as most of the pine trees in the area have been cut down. The pines were planted 150 years ago to prevent sand storms but now some "clever" people claim that this kind of pines are not a natural species for this country and cut most of it down. A distaster for the very diversed birdlife in that area.

Terrific shot of this beautiful bird. How annoying that their habitat has been destroyed. We see acts of environmental vandalism by the "clever people" here too Torben.

I find these birds incredible. As for the cutting down of the trees that they use, unspeakable. V

Excellent shot Torben. Beautiful male. It's a crime to cut down a such old pines. Just wonder how they'll prevent sand storms in the future ;)

Beautiful picture, Torben, but a very sad state of affairs! After 150 years of them being
there?!
