this wild columbine grows all over the west coast in places like this. I collected seeds from it once and started them in my lathhouse
the Latin name, aquilegia, derives from aquila, eagle
the common name, columbine, comes from Latin columbus, dove

again I was really lucky to see this - it was the only columbine visible there
earlier doubtless there were many here
now in June there was but this one
