December 14th - The Setup

My day job is making tv commercials. This morning, I got to do a little product shoot for a new year's ID using some champagne and flutes.

Here's the setup: There's a light on the right (behind the monitor) shining across the glasses to the left.
The white card on the left helps fill the left side in and bring out the highlights on the stems of the glasses.
The silver reflector overhead brings out the highlights on the rims and the paper roll acts as a reflector,
also highlighting the right hand side of the stems. In the foreground is my camera and the tv monitor for checking the work.
The champagne bottle is only in there for demonstration purposes of this shot.

It's not as fancy as the national guys, but it's fun none the less...

nice work - I could do with more practice on the studio stuff.

I could have used white, that's on the reverse side... The silver was a tad more reflective, though.

Duh.
Should have read your decription.

Why would one use a metallic reflector instead of a white one?
