In the book Man and His Symbols, C. G. Jung and his associates state that the circle is a universal symbol of the ideal of wholeness. It is also a symbol of the Self. These are the conceptual starting points in all my circle paintings.

I view the act of painting as a metaphor for personal growth. The more I learn about my craft, the more I learn about myself.

Piet Mondrian articulated it best when he wrote, “Art is like religion...a means by which the universal may be revealed.”

I believe art has a higher purpose, as a vehicle for transcendence.
