I recently flew over what I think was Paria Plateau. What caught me from 3000 feet was the dozens and dozens of man-made water-holding tanks. The structures were red like the earth of the plateau, were mostly square with beautiful blue water in many of them. It seemed to be some type of ancient agricultural area with not a road in sight.
