Also what is the difference from males and females. I also forgot to mention when I caught him he/she opened his/her mouth and had what looked like a lot of saliva. Any ideas?

I have one on my fence and he was very easy to catch. How intelligent are the things?

Do they breed and who has lays eggs

They are often seen on wood fences in the vicinity of bushes and vines. They are harmless and yet fearless for their size. If caught they may seem to try and "bite" but have only tiny sandpaper like "teeth." As a boy in East Texas I used to let them "bite" and hang on to my ear lobes while walking through my aunts house. They are sturdier than geckos, but the tails will regenerate.

I have one of these Lil dudes hanging with me in my Massage Room at the Spa where I work. He refuses to leave! My friend bought him a plant and calls it his Jungle Gym! We are worried that he may die....but he's been there for a while now....over one week.

We have this type of lizard in our Garage, He have been there for like a month, He is not afraid of us, my daughter name him Raimbow lizard because he changes colors, he put water, and we think he is eating bugs or spyders.

I forgot to mention the colors I have seen. On a black pot on my patio I have seen one that 'tries' to turn blackish colored - its more of a dark grey. On the bricks they turn a brownish brick color, and of course green on the plants. They can turn various greens. On a rapheolepsis they are darker green than on a potato vine, and brown on a tree or in bark.

They are harmless and adorable! I have dozens of babies in my garden. They change colors depending on what surface they are on. They like my green potato vine. I like photographing them and they seem to pose and cock their little heads when I break out the camera. Just to cute! They eat lots of bugs so I don't spray any poison around my plants that might hurt these little guys.

We have lots of these anoli, most of which are bright green, but some are tan. We noticed one expanding his throat. Is this a mating techique or an answer to a threat? They seem to listen when you talk to them and show no fear of humans.

Mine also change to red, brilliant blue, bright green, copper, and have totally created a home around the edges of my home and fenceline. They seem intelligent, except when I'm mowing and trimming.

If you keep them as pets they thrive on gray cricketts (not black) and meal worms...warm light and fresh water! They will live for several years or more...

My 4 year old son likes to catch these lizards and keep them in a terrarium. What bugs do they like best?
Tom Murray10-Nov-2008 03:30
These lizards are totally harmless to people. They're good to have around, since they eat lots of bugs.
Jim 10-Nov-2008 01:20
Is it bad or harmful
Jim 10-Nov-2008 01:18
Is it piosinous

Anoles are like chameleons, where they can change their color from green to brown, and some shades in between.
Guest 07-Sep-2008 22:20
So why is he brown?
