Found 5-6 of these accross the street from my house in Medford,Ma early spring. They were on curb under the leaves.Neighbors and I were cleaning the leaves from the curb as that side of street is basically beginnings on the on ramp to Rt93. The next spring the same thin accurred and I found nearly a dozen in the leaf litter and moved them down the street into heavier brush. The following spring my neighbor cleaned the leaves from the curb(by raking the leaves into street for street sweeper)but unlike me he never checked to see if there were snakes in the leaves first. Two springs have come and gone since my neighbor cleaned w/o me and I have never scene the snakes again. I first thought they were baby garter snakes but the markings and brown color I had my doubts. After seeing your photos now I know the are brown snakes and all of them were only 6-8" long and very docile
