Dear Mr. Murray,

I live just south of Fort Worth, Texas. My neighbors have some ants that have been eating the facia board in their home.

Well - I have similar ants climbing up & down the outside of my home! The pesticide company I use calls them acrobat ants and assure me they are not eating my home. They put out ant bait a week ago (not sure what they used) but I still see the active ants.

Any suggestions/comments?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a feeling that the person describing the "very large orange and black ant" is talking about one of the velvet "ants" -- of the WASP Familiy Mutillidae. The female is wingless; the male is winged.

There is a large, no very large ant that is most of the time orange and black. You will never see where they live and they are all most always are alone. They are seen on sandy back roads or in pine trees. It is the largest ant of North and South Carolina. Can you tell me the name and something about it.
