The Story of Brave BiBi
-----------------------
Three weeks ago, BiBi was rushed to Animal Hospital in the morning
after Tom noticed blood running out of his right eye. After being
inspected by one of the best rabbit vets in the country, Tom was
given the choice of: removing BiBi's badly infected swollen eye or
put BiBi to sleep. Tom looked at BiBi, who somehow looked at Tom and
told him that he wanted to live and fight the disease...
On the operation table, BiBi gave the vets a huge scare. He stopped
breathing a few times and had to be manually ventilated. He breathed
normally afterwards till the removal was almost complete. He was moving
about too much near the end and the vets finished the operation just
in time. BiBi took a bit longer than expected to wake up and Tom
picked him up from the hospital at 9pm at night.
Over the last 2-3 weeks, BiBi has been making steady recovery. Sure,
he crashes into things on his blind side and was a bit unsure of
where to run, but he has thankfully started eating lots which is
important for him. He initially didn't like all the medicine the vets
gave him, but slowly warmed to the taste of coconut flavoured antibiotics
and honey flavoured pain killers.
He went for a check up last week and the specialist vet was very
pleased with his recovery and said BiBi was one "feisty little fellar"
on the day of operation and should also be a feisty little fellar
in fighting for his recovery.
Hopefully BiBi will continue being brave and stoic on the road to
recovery. He might be lacking an eye now but everyone including
his Mum, me and the rest of the family will always love him.
Good luck BiBi!
