21-22 August 2010: Brad and I teamed up once again to tackle Mt Bogong in the middle of winter. It was a windy weekend with snow falling non-stop on Saturday from start to camp. We did not camp on the saddle near Castor and Pollux this time due to the high wind. Instead, we chose a flat camp site 5 minutes lower down. The snow was a lot deeper than last year's trip. Combination of bad weather, tired bodies and my sudden case of bad coughs meant we will try the summit again next season.
Bad luck, but fun just to be out there is a tent in the snow, I'm sure!
I've had numerous winter trips to Bogong where we've carried all the ski stuff up there, but never got to use it, as the weather was crap.
Planning to" initiate" my eldest daughter on trip up there on Grand Final Weekend.....she's walked there, but wanted to go "skiing" this year, so it'll be an interesting weekend!
Last 2 Grand Final w/e's have been blizzards, but some great snow.
