Bountiful Canyonland
A series of five pictures outlines this beautiful and exquisite pictograph panel (approx. 1 x 2 yds).
Like much other Barrier Canyon style rock art, it is located around the Canyonland region.
Interpretation of the meaning of rock art is often unscientific and unverifiable, nevertheless, a fun endeavor.
My interpretation of this composition is a depiction of the surroundings and spiritual beliefs of the painter thousands of years ago.
The central figure seems to suggest the canyonlands surrounded by winding rivers (as seen from the mesa.)
Elsewhere in the panel are shown continuous hills and valleys, with plenty of rainfall, full of birds, deer, water creatures, and assorted flora and fauna along the river banks.
