The Ampera will be based pretty much entirely on the Chevrolet Volt’s “Voltec” platform. It will travel 60 km on all-electric power before an onboard generator (no word as to whether it will be diesel or gasoline) kicks on to recharge the batteries. After that, the Ampera will still get good gas mileage…between 30 and 40 miles per gallon.
