Wow - What a change from the "Ka" we all know and hate...
Although the engines are badged as a 1.2 Duratec producing 68 bhp and a 1.3 Duratorque TDCi diesel developing 73 bhp, they are, in fact, Fiat powerplants but retuned to suit Ford's preferred driving characteristics.
With that meager power and a 5-speed gearbox, the gasoline-engine Ka would seemingly be about as much fun as a unicycle without a saddle. Wrong. Its engine revs eagerly, accompanied by a peppy exhaust note while delivering a 99-mph top speed with 62 mph coming up in 13.1 seconds. But this car isn't about winning the traffic light Grand Prix; it's about sipping fuel, and with a combined fuel consumption of 46.1 U.S. mpg, it achieves that. Furthermore, with CO2 emissions of only 119 g/km, the Ka is helping Ford meet its EU emissions requirements.
