Invermark Castle along the Esk

Some fourteen miles along Glen Esk just before Loch Lee. The almost intact ruins of Invermark Castle which was built around 1526 by the Lindsay's and was used as a refuge by the locals when Highland caterans or raiders descended on the Glen. This was the first time we had been along Glen Esk, which in hind sight is rather shocking. We had super walk up to the falls at the head of the Loch. We will be going again!

A stunning composition. It is amazing that something that was built in 1526 is still standing. Us Americans are such a throw away society. Thanks for letting us view your area of the world. Great image. V.
