A small window of opportunity when it all happened just as the sun came up the clouds started to part. I made no attempt to 'bring out'/lighten the foreground as this was how I saw it as the light started to creep across the wonderful Trotternish landscape. But a few minutes I almost committed the cardinal sin of not looking over my shoulder!






The Quiraing, is on the Trotternish peninsula on Skye and consists of Jurassic sediments, clays, shales and sandstones overlain by thick lava flows. The whole of the Trotternish Ridge escarpment was formed by a great series of landslips (with N-S faults) due to the weight of the overlying lavas. The dramatic Quiraing which is the largest landslip in Britain, extends to a width of 2km from the scarp slope to the coast. It is apparently still actively moving in places shown in some of the local roads.
