I was expecting the war to spread to Lanao Norte, but not that soon. So I agreed to drive my sister and nephew to the airport in Cagayan de Oro to catch the first flight. Not knowing that when we left home at 5 a.m., people were already being killed in Kauswagan and Kolambugan. So I rushed back home, and went to photograph "bakwits" in Buruun as they were arriving from Kauswagan and some far-flung parts of Linamon. In the afternoon, we decided to try our luck if we can get to Kauswagan. Just past Samburon in Linamon, we wanted to go back coz the streets and the homes were deserted. But I drove on, until we saw soldiers manning the checkpoint at the bridge that serves as the boundary of Linamon and Kauswagan. They warned us against proceeding, but we moved on, only after workers of Cosmopolitan Funeral Parlor took the risk and crossed the bridge. We were relieved to see Brig. Gen. Antonio Supnet and his men in Lapayan, where there were people killed and houses burned.
