The Colors of "A" Spectrum

Despite the bombings and red alerts, we pushed through with the “A” shoot here in Iligan on December 27, at the National Power Corporation compound at the foot of the majestic Maria Cristina Falls. A great success it was! The weather cooperated -- it was overcast most of the shoot, heavy rains coming only when we were already driving downtown on our way home. The bombers cooperated, too, as I heard of no news on explosions downtown nor bombs discovered hidden in papayas and backpacks in baggage counters. Maria Cristina Falls, which normally has very little water so Napocor could use it for power generation, cooperated, too, as it showed us all its grandeur with overflowing water.

Our club, the Hulagway Photographic Society, isn’t even a formally organized group yet. We seldom meet. But to my surprise, it was so easy calling meetings despite the holidays and the red alerts, considering this is a time for family and class reunions, even if it wasn’t a festival nor a glamour shoot. Considering, too, that we expect no gain whatsoever in this shoot; it was all giving on our part -- our time, our talents, our energies, equipment wear and tear, potential opportunity loss.

Thanks to Sir John Chua with the Magic Eye, who kept sending us text and email messages, calling for his support. To Canon for lending us digicams and a printer. To Societas Fidei for organizing the kids and the parents. To members of the Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP) here in Iligan for letting us be a part of their and their children's lives.

Thank you very much to my fellow photographers here in Iligan for sharing your time -- Edwin Orbe and son Karl Jacob, Julius Vacalares and son Seth, Marlon Gotinco, Janina Karla Mascarinas, Maan Obed, Alfritz Ermac, Rahuel Antonio, Roger Marcelo and Ace Reston. And to Mike Sia for coming all the way from Cagayan de Oro.

Thanks for your support guys. Hope the freshly roasted Yemeni, Ethiopian and Brazilian coffees I served at home were enough to repay you for your kindness.
