We've done it a couple of times. My inlaws lived in Ellesmere so they came down for a visit on one trip and, on another trip, we detoured up the Monty and stayed overnight at the Queen's Head. Magic canal and QUITE a different experience from jumping in the car at Ellesmere and just driving to the QH for a meal! There are kingfishers on the Monty that patrol the canal - we saw four.

a team of 8 novices travelled from australia in september 2008 just to do the Llangollen down as far as wrenbury mill from trevor. believe me trevor from oz, it would be worth the effort.great photo's, great memories and great experience. Phil from Towpath Tours 2008.
