Deer Truffle Parasitized by Goldenthread Cordyceps

The Deer Truffle, a false truffle, is the dirt-covered object at the bottom. Goldenthread Cordyceps is the orangish-brown club-shaped fungus attached to the Deer Truffle by a gold cord. I dug it up and cleaned as much dirt off as I could in the creek without breaking the connection between them.

Elaphomyces sp and Cordyceps ophioglossoides
