I was stationed in Budingen with the 2/83 FA from Oct. 69 to the spring of 70 when we moved to Babenhausen. I can remember walking through the old walled section of town. It was much as it was hundreds of years earlier. I was an 82C20 artillery surveyor then but now I'm just a 71-yr old young at heart vet.

Greetings!
I was stationed in Budingen with the HQ Bat, 593rd during 1955-56 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I returned on a business trip with my 19 y.o. son to where he was born. The Kaserne was pretty much the same and the Altenstat and Jerusalem Gates were virtually unchanged. Pretty town and very interesting. I believe the Kaserne is now abandoned. Time does march on!

I was stationed in Budingen from 1985-1988, I was a tanker in A-Troop 3/12th CAV. I have many fond memories of Budingen and Orleshausen where I live above the Nos Family. I just visited there this Thanksgiving 2016. It has changed a lot. The Post is now inhabited with refugees and was told they now account for 1 out of 6 people in Budingen. When to a few of my favorite places to eat and they are still good and the people of the area are still wonderful. I am going back this coming summer to visit again with my kids.

Thias brings back a lot of memories for me from my childhood, Walking around Budingen with my friends and meeting the Prince of the castle was a great experience for me. I miss that old town and one day plan to make it back there to show my son around the old place

We were with the 2nd/83rd Artillary in 1968-69. I drove for the battalion commander and
enjoyed traveling throughout germany during my tour. My wife and I also lived in
Rindenburgen, in the same apartment as Jerry Duff above the Hoffman family. Our
experience was awesome and remember many day trips with the Hoffmans into the countryside. We returned to Germany in 1987 but were unable to make a side trip to
Buedingen to reconnect with the Hoffmans.

I was stationed with the Air Defense Artillery's 3/61 Vulcan unit in Budingen from July of 1971 to late Nov of 1972. My son was born at the U.S. Army's 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt in Feb of '72. It was a beautiful place but I was too young (only 21) to appreciate the history hidden in all the buildings and countryside. The natives were all very hospitable and many spoke English for we ignorant Americans. Visited Ronneburg Castle once. I have 8mm video of our visit to Ronneburg. It was inspiring. My wife and I and our infant son lived north of Budingen in Rinderbugen in an upstairs apartment in the home of Herr Hoffman and his wonderful wife. Would love to hear from anyone else that was there at that time.

I lived in this small town back in the early 70's as my ex husband was stationed there. I can remember walking down the cobble stone path to the army base that was there. My son was about 2 years old back then as it took us hours to get to base since we did not have a car. Only stayed there for a few months before my ex was shipped off to Crete, Greece.

My dad was Army and we were stationed here from the time I was 11-14. Still, to this day, I desparately want to go back. I'm 33.

guest-just returned from Budingen after being there with my husband on a business trip. Fell in love with the people in this beautiful place and hope to return soon with our family! I can see why so many visitors want to go back. Patty Murphy from El Paso, Texas
