5-26-5018 Male Evening Grosbeak

Best in Original Size

The 500mm lens really does a good job of blurring the
sometimes confusing background.

Taken during the Memorial Day weekend on the east side
of the Cascade Mountains.

Definitely a tripod, Michael - that lens weights 8.5 pounds by itself! Thanks for your
kind comment and so wonderful to see you back!

This work with the 500 is spectacular. Are you using a tripod, I assume, or do you just “man-handle” that big boy?

Thank you very much Elaine! Your comments mean so much
To me.

Terry, your wonderful gallery of various birdlife is astounding.
This image is no exception.
Just super, Terry.

Thanks very much, Hal! Yes, even their name “gros beak’
reflects their outsized beak. They use it for opening seeds.

Correction: "What does it use it for ? "

Wow, Terry, this is fantastic !
A really lovely shot of a beautiful and interesting bird.
Nature has given in a powerful beak. What does it for ?
Cracking shells on seeds perhaps ?
lt's out of all proportion to the size of the bird.
Masterly photograph !
