Soo Locks

We took a ride through the American locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. It was fascinating to see a 1000 foot tanker lock through beside us. We returned through the Canadian locks at Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, Canada.

Love these kind of shots, Cindy. We have similar locks connecting Lake Union in Seattle to
the Puget Sound. Built about the same time as the first Panama Canal Locks. Fun
to go down the the 'locks' on a weekend and just watch the ship/boat traffic.

Great shot, Cindy. I too, thought it was a ship until I had a closer look.
Great view and interesting subject matter. The soft lighting add to the mood of yesteruear.
Love it.

Very interesting view of what I thought was a ship... Cool viewpoint of this lock on the Great Lakes. Lots of activity through there, I hear...

PS. Did you notice that on the thumbnail view
the side of the lock and the building look like an old steamship ??

A most interesting image, Cindy.
Some of the Great Lakers are huge ships,
though they never go to the open sea.
A very original photo angle.
Never seen one from within the locks before.
Thanks for showing this interesting shot.
