Portrait of a Local Gull

Mount Desert Island, Maine

Sorry for the pun... I shot this on the way to a lobster dinner in Maine. I saw this bird sitting on a stone, and he allowed me to drive up fairly close. Not every day you get 20 feet away from a wild bird. This is the common variety we see in Maine, perhaps Terry has a name... Dedicated to Hal, and to welcome back Andrea. This is the old 6D. Just cropped and lightened shadows.

Very nice shot. We have lots of gulls here because our town is on a lake. I think that they are lots of fun to shoot. Ours are not too pesty, but in Lake Havasu, they go crazy for food and I've even seen them land on a person's head.

Hi Michael,
A lovely shot of a lovely bird. SAd that we've made pests out of them.
Very sincere thanks for the dedication :)
Before coming online today l was watching your presidential debate
and working on a shot of a gull, rarely seen this far North on Oz.
l got this Pacific Gull flying past, maybe heading back down Melbourne way.
Thanks again, Michael.

A great shot with lots of detail. I think gulls are beautiful looking birds even though they can be pests at tomes.

Michael,
I think it is a BIRD!!
If you can't beat them join them.
Ha ha.
It is a great shot. The detail on his beak and his eye
give him a very intelligent and interested look.
Great shot, hope the lobster was good.

I think this is a herring gull Michael. They are a pest in our coastal towns, people feed them and they they begin to get wily and steal your sandwiches! In the west country, they have become accustomed to a diet of chips (French fries) ... and pasties.
