The terns are fun to watch - lots of interaction.

Lovely shot Terry. They are difficult to capture and are always moving.

Just looking again, Terry.
These have longer legs than the Crested variety.
And interestingly, like the crested terns,
they have muscles on the scalp
and are able to raise and lower the black feathers on their heads.
This is apparently only done when the birds are on the ground
when they are socializing and never when they are flying.

Fascinating grouping, and obviously social. You do know what you called a bunch of these back in the 60's, right...? Tern, tern, tern....
