Prairie Family

Somewhere in Gove County, Kansas

A group of mule deer, I guess, startled by my landscape shooting. Glad I had the Canon around my neck at the same time!
Looks like the drought and heat (the temperature was 104F when I shot this) has taken a toll on the food on the prairie. They went into the corn field after this burst of shots.

Canon EOS 60D ,Canon EF 135mm f/2L USM
1/400s f/8.0 at 135.0mm iso125 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

You certainly have their attention. Very nice colors and composition. They look a bit lean.

Wow... I've never seen deer looking that undernourished.
Excellent groping and composition.

Lovely shot Michael, first thing that caught my eye was their ribs.
104F nothing could stick that sort of heat.

Remarkable. lt must the clang of the Canon Shutter that
made them all ears :)
The poor things do look under-nourished, Great Photo.

They need food and water, their ribs are showing. The weather is taking it's toll on everybody and everything.
