I decided to walk across the London Bridge and take some wide-angle shots of the channel. Shortly after this photo was taken, it started to rain cats and dogs. The wind almost blew me off the sidewalk. I ended up soaking wet and very cold. So much for the warm desert.
My guess is that the storm didn't last long (at least by our Pacific NW standards :)).
I love the overall view in your image, Cindy. It gives a great sense of the place.
Thanks for commenting, Bob and Michael.
Parker Dam (about 40 miles down-river) created Lake Havasu. McCullough, the founder of Lake Havasu City, bought the London Bridge and had it shipped over. A channel was cut (part of which you see here) which sliced off the land to the left in the picture. This created the "island". The bridge connects the main city and the island. There are sidewalks on both sides of the bridge going across and you can also walk under it on both sides of the channel.

Still... it looks like a tropical paradise to those of us up
here wrapped in fleece in the Northwest. Seems odd that you can
stroll across London Bridge in the middle of a desert. Hope
the weather clears up for you!
