Dragonfly

Wisconsin

I was hiking along a trail in the Kettle Moraine when I spotted this Dragonfly posing for me. I didn't have any macro equipment with me, so the old Elmar was pressed into service. ;-)

Leica M8 ,Leitz 90mm f/4 Elmar
1/125s f/5.7 iso160 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Hi Cindy, firstly, thanks for all of your very useful 'bird shooting info' you gave me the other day... am hoping I'll get the chance to go out again in the next few days, only if the weather changes... I'll let you know...
Great photo of a difficult subject... have you heard of Topaz... I use it quite regularly and love the 'Topaz DeNoise'. It's basically a Photoshop plug-in, but I love all the Topaz software...

like the way the colors seems to change down the center of the shot. Nice image and detail!

Love it... the sky is the same wonderful color as in your
marsh shot a few frames back.

Well, Cindy, this is unbelievable. Ihave chased these guys around our 50 acres all summer, and can't get one to slow down, much less pose for the camera and smile. Really would love to know your secret here...
This is a great shot.

Well, that 'old Elmar' certainly did a nice job in your talented hands, Cindy.
I love the wonderful blue background and your overall composition.

Brilliant, Cindy, what a wonderful close up, dragonflies are sure not easy to get still!

Well the result is a beautiful photograph, Cindy.
l was told once at the Leitz factory in Wetzlar, that the Elmar lens
is the standard by which they judge all new designs.
They always try to make fast lenses, F2 and 1.4 as sharp as the slower Elmar lenses.
l like the rough edge and drop shadow on your picture too.
