An Estuary

Mount Desert Island, Maine

In Maine, at the coast, everything is relative. This area is literally 1/2 mile from the Gulf of Maine. When you recall that the Gulf is directly connected to the Bay of Fundy, and recall where the greatest tidal changes in the world occur, it's obvious that means things may be a little srange. This river flows one direction at low tide, then backwards at high tide. The difference in water level here averages about 16 feet betwen high and low...

Serene in the extreme, Michael. Lovely leading lines, too.

Thanks, Pete.
You probably couldn't help but come back.
Many of these areas have almost no water in them at low tide.
I'll post some to show you...

Nice one
Sounds like you could plan you canoe trip to go with the tide and come back with the tide and have an wasy time of it.

Looks like a canoeing or kayaking paradise, but I suspect it can get nasty when the tide changes. Very nicely captured here.

This is a truly lovely scene, Michael.
Very restful. The curve of the river and the trees tapering off in the distance
all lead to a pleasant feeling of relaxation. Well seen and taken.
