Photos that I have shot over multiple trips to Elmwood & Pinewood cemetery in charlotte nc . Originally a segrated cemtery with Elmwood for the whites and Pinewood for any person of color or ethnicity the city deemed to be segregated. There was fence that went down the middle separating each section that didn't come down well into the 1970's. Just be cause the "Civil Rights" case happened and was won in the 1960's didn't mean that southern cities complied with the court ruling, in fact they tried many tricks to get around it. That dividing fence coming down was considered a huge step forward for the city of Charlotte, Mecklenburg county, North Carolina starting to behave a little better on human rights issue.
