Packsaddle Pass is a 'shortcut' from the Humphreys Basin into Evolution Valley. Though it is indeed shorter, the route involves more than 1000' of climbing over obscenely loose moraines. From the summit of the pass, nearby Matthes Peak and Peak 12,900'+ are relatively easy scrambles.
