This is the start of the Philadelphia Ditch, a canal and flume system that brings water from the South Fork Stanislaus River to a penstock at Spring Gap, where it plunges to the Spring Gap Powerhouse on the Middle Fork Stanislaus River below Beardsley Reservoir.
